Contact person: Sarah Burrows, Safe & Dignified Programming Working Group Coordinator - sburrows@cafod.org.uk

Purpose

The Safe & Dignified Programming Working Group (SDWG) of CAFOD, CRS & Caritas Australia would like to engage a consultant to support the update of a Facilitation Guide promoting Safe & Dignified Programming in humanitarian and development programmes.

Background

The SDWG is a joint initiative of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and Caritas Australia, which aims to strengthen their own capacity and that of their partners to be more strategic and consistent in embedding safe and dignified programming throughout their humanitarian and development programmes. This group has produced a large package of tools and resources for use throughout Caritas agencies and other partners to support this work. This includes a Facilitation Guide which contains different training materials, which have been tested over the years with various audiences.

Activities

The consultant will repackage the existing Facilitation Guide and supporting tools to make the package more user-friendly. The aim of the repackage is to make it easier for facilitators and other users to adapt the content for different audiences, training lengths, and for online delivery. The suggested repackage is to split the content into different levels, but we are open to other suggestions from the consultant.

The approximate level of effort for each activity is in parentheses.

1) Preparatory work (1.5 days LOE)

· Agree on detailed workplan with activities, roles, and responsibilities

· Liaise with SDWG Coordinator to understand the purpose of the update and the key changes needed

· Familiarisation with content of Facilitation Guide

· Propose structure and format of the Facilitation Guide for approval by the SDWG Coordinator

2) Repackaging Facilitation Guide & supporting tools (8.5 days LOE)

· Organise the Facilitation Guide into different levels, audiences, training durations and modalities (online or face-to-face)

· Structure Facilitation Guide content into simplified modular approach based around a case study (to be provided)

· Simplify and streamline supporting training PowerPoints to align with edits made in the Facilitation Guide

· Share updated Facilitation Guide for review

· Incorporate reviewers’ feedback and finalise Facilitation Guide
